Training

Posted on August 28, 2017

Oh my goodness… There are so many trains. I thought the skytrain had prepared me, I thought wrong.

I’ve landed at Gatwick airport and took a train to London. Got my hostile all setup and good to go. I met a Swedish electrician and an Egyptian doctor at the hostile. Accents made it a little interesting trying to communicate but we managed. They asked me if I wanted to  join them at some festival in London. We trained there to check it out. I didn’t know what to expect but I definitely wasn’t ready for about 8-10 square blocks of people jam packed shoulder to shoulder dancing. I guess it was Jamaican themed? Every 100m or so there was a new stage with more sound equipment blasting some pop music I haven’t heard before. People were way more enthusiastic than I was expecting. At that point I hadn’t slept yet and had to excuse myself and head back to the hostile. The crowds were a little too much for my tired mind.

The plan tomorrow is to do some free, more relaxed stuff. I laughed, the British Museum has a special exhibit on BC native art, I’ll still probably check out the museum though.

Also apparently you can drink beer in public here. That still feels so wrong.

Are you enjoying your stay at the Hostel? Is it easy to get to know other people in the Hostel? Sounds like you are already having a great experience.

I haven’t spent a lot of time at the hostel. My room is an oven on the 4th floor, and it definitely smells like 14 people are living in it. Still the place is nice enough.

Hopefully you can move down a few floors where it may be cooler?
