After a hotel stay in Bristol and a decently long buss ride, I spent a quick night in Edinburgh and booked a 5 day trip around the Scottish highlands. So far I’ve been to Loch Ness and the Isle of sky. Loch Ness was really cool, we checked out a lot of the natural features like waterfalls and forests around the area. I tried my best, but didn’t see Nessie this time. I sort of forgot about Loch Ness when I got to Scotland, so it was a fun “oh yeah, that exists” moment. We drove to Inverness for an afternoon before continuing to check out the sights.
We went to the real Culloden Battlefield, where the Scottsh Jacobites fought the English red coats and lost horribly. It was crazy to think that the battle literally happened where we were walking. There were still humps in the ground where the mass graves for the Scottish fighters were. It was pretty sollemn, but really cool.
We also got to tour the Tomatin scotch distillery. Tomatin isn’t my favourite scotch, but apparently their distillery tour is one of the best. My favourite scotch, Glenfarclas has a distillery seemingly in the middle of nowhere, so I might be out of luck on that one.
today we drove around the Isle of Skye. I can’t get over how amazing the scenery is. It’s so green everywhere and there are rainbows everywhere you look. The cliffs and rock formations are amazing. It’s awesome in the real sense of the word.
Tomorrow we go to Oban and the next day we head to back Edinburgh. I have a 2 day gap from when we get back to when I have a hostel booked for Edinburgh, so I’m not sure how I’ll spend that yet. I’ll probably go to Glasgow, unless there is any distilleries nearby. Glasgow does have a tim hortons though…

Well it does look pretty beautiful. How’s the food ??
Not sure what they were doing with that cow/ bull in the background lol
They just use the cows to graze the fields. They’re super tame. The food is pretty good, I tried haggis and it’s actually not bad
