Well, we’re done in Amsterdam. What a city! It’s so cool getting to see how different everything is. It’s awesome to meet people from around the world. There is so many different cultures that we are getting to experience together. I’ve learned more about Irish politics than I ever imagined I would from someone on my tour. I’ve met kiwis and Aussies and Americans and Brits it’s been great. It really feels like a sort of cultural exchange that doesn’t seem forced or fake. It’s really fun.
today we spent 8 hours driving from Amsterdam to Berlin. Most of us spent the driving recovering from our night out last night. We cruised the Amsterdam canals, are at a Dutch restaurant, then checked out some bars and night clubs. The Netherlands has a food called stroopwaffle’s which is like a caramel waffle cookie thing. They are amazing.
all we did was check into our Berlin hotel today. Then we were free to roam. We were 5 mins from the Berlin Wall so I went there to check it out. That was mind blowing to see and just know how much history is behind it. It was cool to see the art on it, but j found myself focusing one the art and had to remind myself that I was at the wall. It really was something else. I’m going to have to come back to Berlin to see all the history and museums I won’t have time to see on the tour. I laughed, my first encounter with a German went a bit like this.
“can I have a chicken ceased wrap please?”
“I don’t know can you?”
… Apparently Germans don’t mess around in any language.
now I’m typing this up at the hostel bar. They have 2L beer boots that look pretty tempting so I’m going to wrap it up here.
