Non-shiny things

today was an interesting one. I decided to rest and sleep until the tour I had booked at 2:00. I was awoken at 11:00 by a hostel worker telling me checkout was 10:00 and he had to clean my bed. Turns out I got a day confused when I made the booking, so I just went to the front desk and bought another day. I still had to switch rooms though, but that was easy enough.

i took a bus tour to Stonehenge today, that again costed note than I wanted it to but it was really cool. It’s way bigger in person than I imagined it would be. I really enjoyed it. I would say Westminster Abbey is amazing and you can’t miss it no matter who you are. I still thought Stonehenge was amazing and personally I liked it just as much, but I could see some people not liking it as much. I’m definitely glad I got to see it.

I tried fish and chips again from a different pub. This one I would actually describe as good. English pubs are pretty much exactly what I look for in a pub. Just a place to chill, without music so loud I can’t hear. I still the the NZ fish and chips was the best though.

other observations about London:

– I haven’t yet seen a fire hydrant, it might be because I’m not really looking for them, but it still weird.

– crossing streets is weird. You don’t cross the street, you cross half the street and wait again in the middle of the road. Also you don’t really have to wait for the sign, you just sorta look. It is nice that all the streets have “look left” or “look right” written on the ground.

– smoking, there’s a lot of smoking here. And everybody rolls their own cigarettes and just carry pouches of tobacco and rolling paper. Apparently pre-rolled cigarettes are more expensive.
